this happens too often...
It always seems that I start things and take too long to get back to them. Strange, not sure why that is... True, real life has interviened, class has been keeping me busy. our group is presenting a fictional product to the rest of the class the same as we would a group of investors. Our product is a line of healty soups to be sold to schools. We are going very far beyone the scope of the projrct, in that we actually have soup, and I just did the market reaserch survey today. this is going to be FUN | | Saturday, July 17th, 2004 | | 12:18 am |
Late night, with Me
Wow, Video games are fun... In reading up my old favorite webcomics, I found some links to some newer cool comics. Dr. Devious hasn't gotten very far yet, but has good promise. popular comics like PVP and Penny Arcade, while I had caught several ofthem, I am going through and reading from the beginning cause they are funny. Real Life is also quite good. RPG world spoofs RPGs and I LOVE that Speaking of Penny Arcade, I hope to see some of you at PAX next month. E-mail me if you want to set up a game in the free play room... who am I kidding, I bet no-one has even read this yet... is anyone out there??? hehe for more info on PAX go to the penny arcade site. logging off for the night... | | Tuesday, July 13th, 2004 | | 6:36 pm |
My paper
Almost halfway done with it now. In case I forgot to mention it, I have to write a paper for class on computer viruses and self protection. I am also pointing out the fact that Adware and Spyware qualify as viruses if you look at the basic behavior of the programs. A virus is known for installing itself in a program that you wanted to have, and running when the program does, spreading itself across your system. it later takes control of your computer and forces it to do somthing that, odds are, is damaging to you and that you DEFINATELY don't want it to do. Spyware installs itself as part of "Free" software you download off the internet, in a legal respect, you actually give it permission to do so in the End User Licence Agreement (although most of the time the wording of that section on the EULA is so vauge that you don't understand that it is referring to the spyware). Some of the replicate by installing a "Backdoor" in youer computer to allow more programs to sneak onto your computer. (as a side note, I once did a service call where the spyware had so clogged his system that his athalon750 with 320 MB ram had 43% system resources free, and he was only running Windows 9X...) the programs proceed to take control of your computer from time to time to report back to a central server to teach advertising companies what kinds of ads to throw at you, in the theory that if they show you an ad about somthing you lkike you will be less annoyed... Yeah, riiiiight... suffice to say, short of shooting the executives that came up with this shit, the best option you have is Spybot Search and Destroy... INCOMING LINK!!! hmmm... the site appears to be down right now... I hope that means they are updating... I must get back to working on the paper, although this has been a nice break.. must see if anyone has commented on my other stuff yet. I wonder if I am actually interesting to anyone... | | Sunday, July 11th, 2004 | | 3:00 pm |
WOW
I actually got change for a $20 at the gas station today... Been a long time since that has happened... I have been spending a lot of my time today catching up on an old favorite webcomic. www.megatokyo.com those guys are really a riot. reminded myself why I hate the big mac (hot thousand island dressing), helped my mother re-arrange her storage compartment... and I gotta go to work later. Yeah, I know... really full day ;-P on a more productive note, I have an essay to do on computer viruses that I plan to do in it's entirety tomorrow. 2 and a half pages focusing on what you can do to protect yourself. The only really annoying thing is that now I have to find references to things I already know because my teacher is a fricking hard-ass when it comes to citing sources, just knowing something isn't good enough for her, I have to prove it by quoting someone elses works, but THEY didn't have to quote anything, THEY are allowed to just write it up because THEY don't have to turn it in for class credit... school needs some SERIOUS rethinking... well, back to my life for now, I need a shower and change into my work uniform. | | Saturday, July 10th, 2004 | | 10:37 pm |
first impressions
As I sit here watching the X-files, and trying to think of what to say, it suddenly occours to me that is doesn't matter what I say. This space is for me to exist in all my me-ness. I've heard of this for a while now and I guess I just needed a place to vent a little, although when I am in a good mood, (or have just become hooked on a game and can't shut up) look for this space to be a cheerful zone of happy. A general feeling of apathy has settled in, and I feel I must sign out. besides, the X-files episode is really cool... Current Mood: apathetic |
